The humble nature of the rag rug seems at odds with the beautiful finished product. I've purchased many myself, and in fact began learning this braiding technique because my toddler at the time found one of my favorite rag rugs and decided to take it all apart! I couldn't let that fabric go to waste! And thus my rag rug obsession went to the next level.  I source my fabrics for the rugs from a variety of places: my family’s old clothing, freecycle groups online, leftovers from my local arts center, odd lots from the creative reuse store, and de-stashers on Facebook.
